Women's Day: A Call to Action
Scripture Reading
- "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." – Galatians 3:28.
Let's each nation give women a chance to rule in key positions worldwide to bring changes in the global community.
Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, we honor the resilience, intellect, and leadership of women across the world. For far too long, gender inequality has held back societies, limiting progress and innovation. But now, the world stands at a turning point—one where we must move beyond words and into action, ensuring that women are given the opportunity to lead in key positions globally.
Biblical Women Who Led with Strength and Wisdom:
- Throughout scripture, God has raised up women who made lasting impacts on their communities and faith:
- Deborah, a prophetess and judge, guided Israel with strength and discernment:
"Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time." – Judges 4:4.
- Esther, through her bravery, saved her people from destruction:
"Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" – Esther 4:14.
- Priscilla, a teacher and leader in the early church, helped spread the gospel and mentored Apollos:
"He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately." – Acts 18:26.
- Mary Magdalene, the first to witness and proclaim Christ’s resurrection:
"Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, 'I have seen the Lord!'" – John 20:18.
These women were not confined by societal limitations—they stepped forward in faith and fulfilled their God-given purposes.

Women Today, Leading with Purpose:
- History has shown that when women take charge, they transform communities, industries, and nations. From heads of state to corporate executives, female leaders have demonstrated their ability to bring fresh perspectives, foster inclusivity, and drive impactful change. Their contributions are not just valuable—they are essential.
One modern example of faith-driven leadership is Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first female Director-General of the World Trade Organization. Her leadership in global economics reflects the integrity, wisdom, and resilience seen in biblical figures. Similarly, Christian women around the world are shaping industries, standing as pillars of change, and embodying the virtues of servant leadership.
Yet, despite progress, many barriers remain. Women still face systemic discrimination, unequal pay, and limited access to decision-making roles. Addressing these challenges is not just about fairness; it’s about the future of our world. Research has consistently shown that gender-diverse leadership leads to better governance, economic growth, and social stability. When women lead, societies flourish.
A Call to Action for Nations and Institutions:
- On this International Women’s Day, we urge governments, businesses, churches, and communities to commit to policies that empower women to lead. This means:
- Ensuring equal representation in politics, education, and corporate spaces.
- Dismantling biases that prevent women from stepping into leadership roles.
- Investing in mentorship programs that equip future female leaders.
- Creating environments where women can thrive in their God-ordained calling.
Faith communities, in particular, must champion women's leadership. The early church recognized Priscilla, Phoebe, and Lydia as integral to spreading the gospel—why should today's churches be any different?
Let’s not just celebrate women today—let’s ensure they have the opportunity to shape the world tomorrow.
Reflective Question:
- How can you, in your own sphere, champion women’s leadership as God intended?

Closing Prayer:
- Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of leadership and the wisdom You have bestowed upon women throughout history. From Deborah to Priscilla, Esther to Mary Magdalene, You have used women to accomplish Your divine purposes.
Lord, we ask that You continue to open doors for women who are called to lead in government, business, ministry, and beyond. Strengthen them with wisdom, courage, and faith as they step into positions of influence.
Break the chains of discrimination, and let Your truth shine in policies and leadership structures. May the world reflect the equality and justice You established from the beginning.
Let this International Women's Day be a call to action—one that moves hearts, challenges minds, and brings forth a world where women are empowered, valued, and encouraged to walk boldly in their purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
